GFA Consulting Group
was established in 1982 in Hamburg, Germany. Having started with agricul-tural advisory services in its beginnings, GFA today is one of the leading technical cooperation consul-tancy groups in Europe and has carried out more than 3,000 studies and projects in over 130 coun-tries and continuously expands its range of services. Leading development agencies, ministries, and public clients have entrusted GFA with helping them to manage projects financed through bilateral and multilateral funds. GFA employs more than 1,000 staff members in Germany and abroad, plus an increasingly large number of local staff.
GFA has successfully consulted hundreds of institutional clients by helping them execute projects financed by the European Union, the German government the World Bank, EBRD, and other bilateral donors. It is especially its long-standing experience in the implementation of EU projects that has made a significant contribution to the enlargement of GFA's project portfolio and to the intensification of the company's expertise.
GFA currently implements three projects in Georgia: The Support Programme for Protected Areas financed by KFW, the Wood Market Study for Georgia financed by GIZ and the Support to Regional Development Implementation II financed by the EU.

Owned by the Federal Republic of Germany, the organi-sation functions as a private sector enterprise with a development mandate: to improve people's living conditions on a sustainable basis.
GIZ operates in more than 130 countries worldwide and has over 16,000 staff members across the globe - of whom some 65% are employed locally as national personnel. While most commissions are placed by the German Government, the department 'International Services' was developed within GIZ to work exclusively on internationally funded projects. ALTUS has been selected as a Framework Contractor of the European Commission for the preparation of studies related to the future development of the Cohesion Policy and the European Structural and Investments Funds which includes local expert input in all EU member states.
